Male Female Icon Set

3D Illustration

A collection of icons which I create in Cinema 4D and then bring into Illustrator CS4, where I turn the entire scene into vectors. Time consuming… yes, but it reduces the file and makes it customizable for use. I submit these to iStock where I get a portion of the proceeds. The images are a little dry and sterile, but the process is cathartic. Click the page icons to see others in the same collection.

Raw Material Design Logo

Raw Material Design Logo
spacer
A design I did for a small design company, very similar to mine. It’s an older design so it has some of the trappings of the early 1990’s when a lot of industrial and war propaganda imagery was very popular. I embraced the ‘look’ of the time, while trying to keep it simple to give it longevity. I used a muted and institutional colorway in keeping with the subject matter.

3 Screens Envelope Insert

Envelope Insert

Final size 5.5″ x 11″, folded and inserted into #10 envelope. Part of a small round-up mailing to subscribers to renew. The piece is mailed 3 times, each time it looses a prize. I was inspired by an old poster with hundreds of arrows pointing in a direction. The negative and positive space of an arrow creates some nice shapes in which to place type and other pieces of information.

Atlas Pictures Logo

This was a massive logo exploration trying to capture the feeling of a vodka print ad they had seen a few months before. Atlas Pictures was a commercial production company out of Santa Monica, California.

To create this logo I found some 1940’s clip art and adapted it to fit the film business theme. The client loved the logo so much it was printed on everything, and I mean everything.

Battle Between The Sexes

Battle of the sexes 3D illustration

This is a final render of a collection of 3D cultural icons I’m working on for istock.com. The idea is to produce a collection of elements that could work well for a publications art director. Lot’s of white space for text with just a hint of color, almost hand-tinted.

Right On Target

This is a series of 4 targets + arrows icon/illustration I’m doing for
istock.com.

I concept out the piece on a sketchpad, then I use Adobe Illustrator™ to draw the outline of the elements. From there the ‘elements’ are imported into Maxon Cinema 4D™, modeled then rendered. The rendering then goes back to Illustrator for tracing and color

The result looks very convincing as a 3D rendering but is in fact vector. The look is stylized and iconic. Great for raw editorial and esoteric concept layouts.
